The Tremont Loft is all about comfortable elegance in an historic and intriguing setting. First built in 1891 as ‘The Tremont House’, then rebuilt in 1899 as Nelson’s first brick hotel, The Tremont even had a brief chapter as a speakeasy. While not a hotel anymore, we’d love you to feel like you’ve found your perfect home away from home. Hopefully you’ve heard about the loft through a trusted local or maybe a good friend that told you, “I know a place that would be perfect...” or maybe it popped up on Instagram as you searched for your next getaway - how ever you‘ve found us, we hope you’ll become a regular.

Located right on bustling Baker Street, in the heart of historic downtown Nelson, the Tremont Loft is a remarkably quiet space for an historic brick building.
The bedrooms were purpose-built with quiet and comfort in mind, isolated away from any adjoining buildings, and to the rear of the loft, away from Baker Street. The bedroom walls are also individually sound proofed (mineral wool 'safe n' sound' insulation) which provides an extra layer of cosy peace and quiet.
Staying in downtown Nelson is an excellent option. Walking distance to wonderful cafés, restaurants, bars, dry cleaners, pharmacy, grocery stores and retail shops. Cold beer and wine just a block away. Baker Street is 4 blocks of beautiful, historic buildings and heritage details. The people are friendly and there's an energetic vibe that makes Nelson a one-of-a-kind destination. It's a 10 minute stroll down to the west arm of Kootenay lake or a short drive out to the main lake. There are endless things to do in the area. Over the years, the Cartolina store has become a destination for travelers. We've lived in Nelson for 24 years and are always happy to meet visitors and recommend day trips and adventures in the area.
We have private parking for your vehicle, located, directly behind our building. Please let us know if you'd like to use it, and we will show you where to park. In the evenings there is plenty of available parking and it's free from 5:00pm to 9:00am. So, feel free to park on the street through the night and then park behind the building during the day.
